Celebrating the 2023 AFL Grand Final, the E.J Whitten Grand Final Legends lunch took place on 28 September, with RULE Prostate Cancer raising $275,000 for an important cause.
RULE Prostate Cancer was established by the Australian Prostate Centre and the E.J. Whitten Foundation joining forces together to protect more Aussie Legends in the fight against prostate cancer.
Through RULE Prostate Cancer, the Australian Prostate Centre and the EJ Whitten Foundation will be able to turbo charge their ability to achieve their shared purpose: A day when no Australian man will die of prostate cancer.
Spark is proud to be associated with RULE Prostate Cancer, and were honoured to provide Workforcers to sell raffle tickets at the E.J Whitten Grand Final Legends Lunch.
The fundraising efforts from the day will contribute to development of The Peter Burnett Wellness Centre which will provide a safe and supportive space for men to access holistic care, such as counselling, nutrition, exercise, and complementary therapies. The Centre will also offer education and information sessions for men and their families to help them cope with the challenges of living with prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is a serious threat to Australian men. Every year, more than 24,000 men are diagnosed with this disease, and 9 men die from it every day. Early detection can save lives, but many men are unaware of the symptoms or the risk factors.
Our mission is to support cutting-edge research and provide world-class care for men with prostate cancer at the Australian Prostate Centre (APC) based in North Melbourne. Since 2014, the Australian Prostate Centre has helped over 35,000 men with prostate cancer, regardless of their health insurance status.
We love helping for a cause!
